The short answer is maybe. The long answer is that the issue could be made better, “Is it a 100% Flash site appropriate in business?”. The answer to this question, in my humble opinion, absolutely not. In fact, we had several customers come to us this year that 100% Flash web sites completely redo their websites because they simply do not have to work for them. They have problems with search engines and with customers, can not see their websites.

Sure, they work in terms of visuals. When you visit a Flash site, you will see. Just because the visitors to visit the web site does not automatically mean that the website works for your business.

What is Flash?

Flash is a technology from Macromedia, a leader in Web-development tools developed. Flash animations are a compilation of many images, elements and text, then in a nice little waterproof digital file that can be placed on the internet, put together. Some designers create Web pages when using this technology. Graphic Designer just like the technology because it gives them a great opportunity to showcase their talent through the development of interactive, mobile and quite honestly some websites very entertaining. Remember, though, that communicate the purpose of your business website to share with your customers and prospects, not everyone what a talented designer that you hired show.

What is good for Flash?

Flash is great as an additional factor for some graphic elements of a corporate website. Recently, the ability for webmasters to digital audio and video in Flash movies shall prepare and simplifies the use of Flash to show a video, is an excellent example of a perfect use of flash in a company’s website.

Another example of Flash is used well and is well received on sites that are not on the presentation of information. For example, a rock band, sites with children playing games, a photo gallery, a music video of all places, where the flash is particularly well suited.

Flash has a place on the Internet? Absolutely yes, correct, but as a buyer site, you should ask yourself the question, “Flash adds a place on my business website?

Everyone can see Flash

The short answer is no. Although it is widespread and a part of most web browsers when they are installed, has not installed any flash with their web browser. If a visitor does not have a Flash plug-in on their PC visits a Web site that the Flash plug-in will prompt the browser to install it must. PC-and Web-savvy visitors probably go ahead and do it, but to get some users (like my mother) in panic when a pop-up asks a question, and they go or surf the gap in thinking they are infected, their PCs with the latest in the vicinity of the virus. People then search for web pages on keywords that are in the web page tags embedded and hidden in the text, based on the website itself. While it is important to you that people find your website, so it is a well-written text and links on your web pages, manage the search engines to read, find and follow important. Search engines can not see the text in a Flash site. Search engines can not see, flashing hyperlinks on the pages and can not follow links. not your web site seems very important to most search engines because search engines see your site from a page and the only relevant information that the search engines see your meta tags is there, if they exist.

Having said all that it’s probably ways to index a flash site and get listed by a search engine. It’s just not the easiest thing to do and you probably need a search engine optimization specialist to help you.

Reciprocal Links

If you have the kindness to links on your site to other sites that you give them a “confidence” in the form of search engine ranking. The more websites that are on one site, in the eyes of the search engine, the largest site. One step further, receives the main site that links to other potential ranking of your website. The same bodies that can give you a reciprocal link, in fact, to give you their “confidence” and in turn make your site more important.

Remember what I said? Search engines can not see hyper-links embedded in flash memory. may be so even if the links are appreciated, they do not create the perception of search engines value your site in the world and as a result of all this “vote of confidence” are contributing to landfills.

Make sure that people who is selling you a link to your website is not embedded in the flash page. Links should be in pure HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language. If you use links to other websites on your site, just for you to provide, HTML.

Do not Break My Back Button

Web browser all have a back button. As software users, and particularly the Internet, we use the “Back” as a matter of course. It is good practice as a web developer to “break the” no back “. Unfortunately, because of the nature of Flash, the back button not backward navigation in the Flash site to work.

Create a bookmark if you can

People like to select sites on the Internet so they can come back quickly. Customers are not always bookmark the index page or the homepage of a site. For example, if your site has a currency converter calculator can mortgage owl or great about the people just want to save this page. You can not bookmark an internal page within a Flash website. You can bookmark the page. Try it out. Visit a website 100% flash, surf a bit, then try the page you are viewing bookmarks. Costs

The cost of developing a website using traditional marketing standard graphic design, HTML and text in most cases cheaper than Flash. If you use Flash designer suggests asking: “How much it would cost to do the same thing without flash?”.

Revisions and updates

If you built a website to 100% in Flash, you have drawn a particular set of skills in your designer. If you want to make changes, you still need a person who can work in Flash. The same applies if your site theory of images, HTML and text. The main difference is that there are many other web masters that work with latest Flash. It usually takes more time to make corrections to Flash sites and thus the maintenance costs are steep.

Source Files

Flash source files are in the heart of a Flash animation element or website. The file will be something like mywebsite.FLA name. This is not the source file compiled for a native Flash file. Once the designer is ready to flash to the web server located in a different format be created, shall be provided. The compiled file in our example would be mywebsite.SWF.

So to clarify, the original artwork and design is worked in the format. FLA and the final file on the web server is. SWF.

I keep seeing where the designer is not the client with the source file or Flash elements for their site. They protect the files. FLA, and guess what you have to go for updates and revisions. It does not depend on your talented master new site or a designer if you do not have the file with the extension. FLA Flash for your website, you will not be updated on the situation. To ask you to provide your designer can show that the source file if you want to use Flash elements on your website.
